An Introduction to CDD
Crossing the Digital Divide is a non-profit organization with a very specific goal;
to close the gap between the haves and the have-not's by bringing technology to the
most vulnerable and "in need" of our society, adults in recovery.
Nearly one million people are incarcerated for a drug offense in our country.
Offenses are committed daily in the act of obtaining money to supply the drugs.
This is the circumstance that places these adults in a never-ending cycle of abuse
and incarceration.
We know that prisons are no place to deal with the problems of addiction.
Drugs are readily available inside the walls; along with the very people
addicts must stop associating, other addicts. More importantly few "reentry"
programs are in place while incarcerated. Programs that can help prepare a person
to succeed in the real world. Individuals are left to create their own devices on
how to piece their lives back together upon release. With few tools and little
education, the devices they will turn to will be what they know, committing a crime.
This virtually sets people up to repeat the cycle again and again.
We offer a variety of items, from t-shirts to coffee mugs with the CDD logo. We also offer items with a photo of the original painting by John Roberston, "Digital Divide".
All proceeds support CDD.
